Samsung Galaxy Ring in 2026: Price, Battery, Compatibility, and Is There a Galaxy Ring 2?

· 9 min read

Transparency: This blog has never owned or tested a Samsung Galaxy Ring. There are no first-party measurements and no first-hand wearing experience here. The article is based on Samsung’s German store and product pages (accessed 16 Oct 2026), tests and reports from CHIP, heise, mobiFlip and ZDNet Korea, and the German price comparison site billiger.de. All sources are listed at the end. This article contains no affiliate links. More on methodology

Key points

  • One generation: there is still only the 2024 Galaxy Ring. Samsung says a Galaxy Ring 2 is in pre-development (early-stage R&D), with no date and no price.
  • Price (16 Oct 2026): all 33 variants (3 colours, 11 sizes) are sold out in Samsung’s German store. Retailers sell it from €209.99 according to billiger.de. The launch list price was €449.
  • No subscription: all features are included in the purchase price.
  • Android only: Android 11 or later with 1.5 GB of RAM. No iPhone. Some features need a Samsung Galaxy phone.
  • Battery: up to 7 days according to Samsung, up to 6 days in the size 9 spec sheet, about 4.5 days with all measurements in CHIP’s test.
  • Sizes: 5 to 15, weighing 2.3 to 3.3 g, water-resistant to 10 ATM.

Which Galaxy Ring generations exist?

Just one. Samsung announced the Galaxy Ring in July 2024. According to mobiFlip it went on sale in Germany on 24 July 2024 at a list price of €449. Samsung has not released a successor since.

There are two verifiable statements from Samsung itself about a Galaxy Ring 2:

  • July 2026: Hon Pak, head of Samsung’s digital health team, told Forbes, as reported by Digital Today, that Samsung is “developing a next-generation product”. He named no product and no date.
  • 22 July 2026: after the Unpacked event in London, Samsung president Roh Tae-moon said, according to ZDNet Korea, that a new Galaxy Ring is in pre-development (early-stage R&D). Samsung does not release new models on a fixed cycle, he said, but when customer demand and technical innovation justify it.

Anything else you read online about a Galaxy Ring 2 price or launch date is not confirmed by Samsung, so we don’t repeat it here.

Patent dispute background: according to ZDNet Korea, Oura sued Samsung in a US federal court in Texas in October 2025 and filed a complaint with the US International Trade Commission in November 2025. Samsung had challenged eleven Oura patents; the US Patent Trial and Appeal Board found six invalid and five valid, and Samsung appealed. Samsung does not say whether the dispute affects the timing of a successor.

How much is the Galaxy Ring in Germany?

As of 16 Oct 2026:

  • Samsung store: we opened all three colours (Titanium Black, Silver, Gold) in all eleven sizes in Samsung’s German store. Every variant was marked “Ausverkauft” (sold out), with no price shown. The store does not say whether Samsung is phasing the ring out or restocking.
  • Retailers: billiger.de lists 27 variants from €209.99 (plus €6.90 shipping for the cheapest offer). Several retailers sell it for €219 with free shipping. The lowest price applies to individual colour and size combinations.
  • Launch list price: €449 in July 2024 (mobiFlip).
  • Subscription: none.

That keeps the Galaxy Ring one of the cheapest subscription-free smart rings at retail. How that adds up against Oura over five years is in our Oura alternatives without a subscription.

Check the retailer. A buyer wrote in a review dated 23 Oct 2025 on Samsung’s German product page that her ring lost its connection after about a year; the repair service classified it as impact damage and asked €89 for the repair. That is a single report, not a test. But it is a reminder that the battery can’t be replaced: according to Samsung’s FAQ, individual components can’t be swapped, so the whole ring has to be replaced.

Compatibility: Android yes, iPhone no

According to Samsung, the Galaxy Ring needs:

  • an Android phone running Android 11.0 or later with at least 1.5 GB of RAM,
  • the Galaxy Wearable app, Samsung Health version 6.27 or later, and a Samsung account.

iPhone: not supported. Samsung states that the Galaxy Wearable app is not supported on iOS.

Other Android brands: supported, with limits. According to Samsung’s FAQ, features such as Double Pinch (gesture control) and Find my Ring don’t work on other brands. The double-pinch gesture only controls the camera and the alarm and needs a Galaxy phone with One UI 6.1.1 or later. The Samsung Health Monitor app is only available on Galaxy phones.

With a Galaxy Watch: if you wear both, Samsung Health prefers the watch as the data source, according to CHIP. mobiFlip reported at launch that Samsung Health then switches off some of the ring’s sensors to save battery.

All values except the test figure from Samsung’s German product page, accessed 16 Oct 2026.

On battery life: according to Samsung’s own footnote, the “up to 7 days” was measured on a pre-release unit with 6 hours of sleep tracking and 1.5 hours of automatic workout detection per day. Larger rings have more battery capacity. mobiFlip put battery life at 6 to 7 days depending on size. CHIP measured about 4.5 days with all measurements enabled.

Water: 10 ATM under ISO 22810. Samsung mentions showering, hand washing and snorkelling. It is not suitable, according to Samsung, for jumping into a pool, scuba diving or water skiing.

Finding your size: Samsung sends a free sizing kit. In Germany you have to confirm your size within 14 days of receiving it, otherwise Samsung cancels the order. According to CHIP, Samsung recommends wearing it on the index finger.

What the Galaxy Ring measures

According to Samsung, during sleep the ring records sleep stages, sleep patterns, movement during the night, skin temperature, heart rate and heart rate variability (HRV). On top of that there is cycle tracking via skin temperature, alerts for unusually high or low heart rate, and the Energy Score. Samsung Health calculates the Energy Score from the previous day’s activity and sleep data; it needs a Galaxy Watch4 or later or the Galaxy Ring. Samsung explicitly states that it is for fitness and wellness purposes only and is not a diagnosis.

How accurate? CHIP compared the ring against a Garmin Fenix 7S and a Galaxy Watch Ultra on a walk. Average heart rate: 123 bpm on the ring, 124 bpm on both watches. Without support from the phone app, the ring counted about 16% fewer steps than the Garmin. We did not find an independent validation study of the Galaxy Ring against polysomnography (a sleep lab) on PubMed on 16 Oct 2026. What rings and wristbands can and can’t measure about sleep in general is covered in our guide Sleep tracking and better sleep.

The swollen ring incident

In September 2025, tech YouTuber Daniel Rotar (“ZoneofTech”) had to go to the emergency room, according to heise, because his Galaxy Ring had swollen and would not come off his finger. Samsung investigated. According to Rotar, Samsung and an external testing company concluded that the battery did not cause the swelling; a crack in the inner moulding did. Samsung did not identify a cause for the crack. According to heise, Samsung sees no broader battery safety issue across the Galaxy Ring line. Heise also reports user complaints about short battery life.

Galaxy Ring vs Oura, Ultrahuman and RingConn

Prices from each manufacturer’s German store, Galaxy Ring from billiger.de; Oura battery from Oura support; all accessed 16 Oct 2026. Ultrahuman sells some add-on features (“PowerPlugs”) at extra cost; the core features need no subscription.

What the table shows:

  • At retail, the Galaxy Ring is the cheapest ring in this comparison, but it has one of the shorter battery lives and only works with Android.
  • Oura is the only ring here that needs a subscription for its full feature set. For a head-to-head with a subscription-free premium ring see Ultrahuman Ring Pro vs Oura Ring 5.
  • RingConn Gen 3 lasts twice as long as the Galaxy Ring according to the manufacturer and also works with the iPhone.

For the wider picture see smart rings vs smartwatches 2026 and Oura alternatives without a subscription.

Who the Galaxy Ring is for in 2026

  • Yes, if you have a Samsung Galaxy phone, don’t want a subscription and a retail price of just over €200 works for you. You get the full feature set including gestures.
  • Probably yes, if you use another Android phone and can live without gestures and Find my Ring.
  • No, if you use an iPhone. RingConn, Ultrahuman or Oura are the options then.
  • Wait, if you are hoping for a Galaxy Ring 2 anyway. There is no date, though, and as long as Samsung’s store is sold out you can only buy from retailers. Check the retailer, warranty and returns there.

Verdict

In October 2026 the Samsung Galaxy Ring is still the same ring as in 2024: no subscription, Android only, up to 7 days of battery according to Samsung and about 4.5 days with all measurements in CHIP’s test. It is sold out in Samsung’s German store and costs from €209.99 at retailers instead of the original €449. A successor has been announced but not dated. For Samsung users that makes it a cheap way in without running costs; for iPhone users it is not an option.
