Oura Ring 4 (2026): Smart Ring for €265 instead of €379, but with a Membership – Still Worth It?

Transparency: This blog has never owned or tested an Oura Ring, including the Ring 4. There are no first-party measurements and no first-hand wearing experience here. The article is based on Oura’s German store and the Ring 4 product page (accessed 18 Oct 2026), Oura’s support pages on the membership and the Ring 5 comparison, and a price comparison on billiger.de. Oura Ring 4 at a glance

Bottom line: If you want Oura and accept the membership, the Ring 4 is currently €163.70 cheaper than the cheapest Ring 5, with the same feature set. If you don’t want to pay a membership, don’t buy an Oura; pick one of the smart rings without a subscription instead.

What the Oura Ring 4 is

Oura introduced the Ring 4 on 3 October 2024. Since May 2026 there has been a successor, the Oura Ring 5, but the Ring 4 stays in the range and is currently heavily discounted.

According to the product page, the Ring 4 uses red and infrared LEDs to measure blood oxygen, green and infrared LEDs for heart rate, heart rate variability and respiratory rate, plus temperature trends and movement. It is 7.9 mm wide, 2.88 mm thick and weighs 3.3 to 5.2 g depending on size. A size-specific charger and a USB-C cable are in the box.

Alongside the titanium ring there is the Oura Ring 4 Ceramic with a ceramic shell. On 18 Oct 2026 it also costs €300.30 instead of €429.

Price in Germany

That is 30% off the previous price. The German Oura store lists no other Ring 4 finishes that day. The product page does not say whether or how long the reduced price applies.

On the price comparison site billiger.de, the Oura Ring 4 was listed from €177.56 on 18 Oct 2026; most individual sizes and colours there started at €231.30. Retail prices vary a lot by size and colour. At Oura itself, the store lists 30-day free returns and a limited one-year warranty.

Accessories in the Oura store: the Oura Ring 4 Charging Case for €109 and a spare charger for €69.

Membership: what it costs and what remains without it

The Oura membership costs €5.99 per month or €69.99 per year in the EU. According to Oura, new members get one month included. Per the product page, the membership renews automatically until you cancel; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period.

Without an active membership, according to Oura you only see:

• the three daily scores Readiness, Activity and Sleep,
• battery level, profile and settings,
• the Explore content.

Only with a membership do you get, among other things, detailed sleep analysis, 24/7 heart rate, blood oxygen, daytime stress, heart health, reports and connections to other apps via the Oura API.

According to Oura, you can export your data as CSV even without a membership. The membership is tied to your account, not to the ring; existing members keep it when switching rings.

In practice: without a membership you get three numbers per day, but not the measurements behind them. So the Ring 4 only makes sense if you budget for the membership.

Cost over three and five years

Silver or Stealth ring at €265.30, membership at the annual price of €69.99:

With the monthly plan it is €71.88 per year, only slightly more. For comparison: the cheapest Ring 5 comes to €638.97 over three years at Oura with the annual plan.

If you want a ring without ongoing costs, the alternatives with prices and five-year costs are in our Oura alternatives without a subscription.

Oura Ring 4 vs. Ring 5 in brief

Dimensions, sizes and storage per Oura support “Discover Oura Ring 5”. According to Oura’s blog, the new software features announced with the Ring 5 are also coming to Gen3 and newer. All differences in detail are in our article on the Oura Ring 5.

Size: how to find the right one

According to Oura, the Ring 4 comes in sizes 4 to 15; there are no half sizes. The sizing kit is free in Oura’s German store. Oura recommends wearing the sizing ring for at least 24 hours, including while sleeping, and choosing the smaller size if you are unsure between two.

Important when switching: according to Oura, Ring 4 and Ring 5 sizes differ slightly. Don’t simply reorder your old size when moving from one to the other.

Battery and charging

Oura states 5 to 8 days for the Ring 4, depending among other things on ring size, app settings, enabled features and battery age. A full charge takes 20 to 80 minutes per Oura, depending on the charge level.

How accurate is the Oura Ring 4?

So far this is mainly backed by manufacturer claims. On 18 Oct 2026 we found no study in PubMed naming “Oura Ring 4” in its title or abstract. The existing validation studies cover older generations, such as the Gen3 study by Svensson et al. (2024), which according to its conflict-of-interest statement was supported by Oura. How to read such results is covered in Sleep tracking and improving sleep.

• Used? What an older Gen3 is still good for is covered in Oura Ring Gen 3 in 2026.

Conclusion
