What the Oura Ring 5 is
Oura announced the Ring 5 on 28 May 2026 and calls it the world’s smallest smart ring. According to connect, it was available to pre-order in Germany at launch and deliveries began on 4 June 2026. It succeeds the Oura Ring 4, which Oura announced on 3 October 2024.
According to Oura, the Ring 5 is titanium inside and out with a hard PVD coating, water resistant to 100 metres and available in six finishes: Black, Silver, Stealth, Brushed Silver, Gold and Deep Rose. Oura made the Gold lighter for the Ring 5, and Deep Rose is new. There is no ceramic version; Oura only offers that as the Oura Ring 4 Ceramic.
Oura says it completely redesigned the sensing: flatter sensor domes for better skin contact and “12 signal pathways” that are meant to measure more accurately across more finger types and skin tones. These are manufacturer claims and have not been independently verified yet (more below).

Accessories in the Oura store: the Oura Ring 5 Charging Case for €109 (fully charges the ring up to five times according to Oura) and a replacement charger for €69. netzwelt criticises that, unlike with the Samsung Galaxy Ring or RingConn Gen 3, the case is not included.
According to Oura’s German store, free returns apply within 30 days and there is a limited one-year warranty.

Three points worth knowing before you buy:
- Less storage. According to Oura, the Ring 5 only holds data for up to three days, the Ring 4 for up to seven. If you don’t sync your phone for several days, for example when travelling, keep that in mind.
- Smaller size range. The Ring 5 only comes in 6 to 13. For very slim or very large fingers, Oura only offers the Ring 4.
- Its own sizing. According to Oura, Ring 5 sizes differ slightly from the Ring 4. If you switch, don’t just order your old size; use the Ring 5 sizing kit. It is free in Oura’s German store.
Membership: what the Ring 5 does without one
The membership model doesn’t change with the Ring 5. Oura Membership costs €5.99 a month or €69.99 a year in the EU. New members get one month included according to Oura. Without an active membership you only see, according to Oura:
- the three daily scores Readiness, Activity and Sleep,
- battery level, profile and settings,
- the Explore content.
The API is locked without a membership, but according to Oura you can still export your data as CSV via the Membership Hub. Existing members take their membership with them: according to Oura it is tied to the account, not the ring. That also applies to an old Gen3 lifetime membership on your own account.
According to Oura, all Ring 4 features are also part of the Ring 5, with an active membership. The new software features Oura announced at the Ring 5 launch (including Health Radar, AI-enabled medical guidance with Counsel Health and GLP-1 Insights) are meant to be available to members with Gen3 and newer, according to Oura’s blog. So they are no reason to switch to the Ring 5. Whether each of them is offered in every country is not stated there.

Cost over three years
With the annual plan (3 × €69.99 = €209.97), ring prices in Oura’s German store on 17 Oct 2026:
| Ring 5 Silver/Black | Ring 5 premium finish | Ring 4 Silver | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ring | €429 | €529 | €265.30 |
| Membership 3 years | €209.97 | €209.97 | €209.97 |
| Total | €638.97 | €738.97 | €475.27 |
If you buy the Ring 5 at the cheapest retail price we found (€369.95), it comes to €579.92. The Ring 4 at Oura is still just over €100 cheaper. We compare the Ring 5 with the subscription-free Ultrahuman Ring Pro over five years in Ultrahuman Ring Pro vs. Oura Ring 5.
Battery and charging
Oura states typically 6 to 9 days for the Ring 5. According to Oura, battery life depends on ring size, app settings, enabled features and battery age, among other things. To get a week out of the ring despite 40% less volume, Oura says it reworked the battery chemistry and mechanics and added dedicated battery firmware. Charging takes about 80 minutes according to Oura.
In netzwelt’s review the Ring 5 lasted about eight days, “just like its predecessor”, and was full again after about 80 minutes.
How accurate is the Oura Ring 5?
Oura calls the Ring 5 its most accurate generation yet. So far that is backed only by manufacturer claims. On 17 Oct 2026 we found no study on PubMed that mentions “Oura Ring 5” in its title or abstract. Existing validation studies concern older generations, such as the large Gen3 study by Svensson et al. (2024), which according to its conflict-of-interest statement was supported by Oura. How to interpret such results is covered in Sleep tracking and better sleep.
netzwelt credits the Ring 5 with accurate pulse readings in its review. That is a hands-on review, not a validation study.
Who is the Ring 5 for?
- Yes, if a ring that is as slim and discreet as possible matters to you and your size is between 6 and 13. That is the Ring 5’s real step forward.
- Rather the Ring 4, if you mainly want Oura and care about price. At Oura it currently costs €163.70 less than the cheapest Ring 5, has the same membership scope, more storage and, according to Oura, only one day less battery.
- Ring 4, if you need size 4, 5, 14 or 15. Ring 4 price, membership costs and sizes in detail: Oura Ring 4 (2026).
- No Oura at all, if you don’t want to pay a subscription. Then subscription-free rings fit better; see smart rings vs. smartwatches in 2026.
- Used instead of new? What an older Gen3 is still good for today is covered in Oura Ring Gen 3 in 2026.
Bottom line
The Oura Ring 5 is above all a smaller Oura: 40% less volume, slightly more battery according to Oura, the same app, the same membership. In return you get a narrower size range, less on-ring storage and currently a clear premium over the Ring 4, which Oura is selling from €265.30. According to Oura, older rings get the new software features too. Independent measurement data on the Ring 5 is still missing.
