Oura Ring 4 Ceramic: Price, Differences to Ring 4 and Ring 5, Durability

· 8 min read

Transparency: This blog has never owned or tested an Oura Ring. There are no first-party measurements and no first-hand wearing experience here. The article is based on Oura’s German store pages and support articles (accessed 15 Oct 2026), Computer Bild’s test, reports from The Verge and Pocket-lint, and the German price comparison site Geizhals. Key points

  • What it is: an Oura Ring 4 with a zirconia ceramic outside instead of titanium. Sensors, battery and app are the same.
  • Price at Oura Germany (15 Oct 2026): €300.30 instead of €429 in Midnight and Cloud. At launch in October 2025 it cost €549 in Germany.
  • Plus subscription: €5.99 a month or €69.99 a year for the full app.
  • Bigger than the titanium ring: 3.51 mm instead of 2.88 mm thick, 5.1 to 8.1 g instead of 3.3 to 5.2 g.
  • No ceramic Ring 5: the Ring 5 is all titanium and 40% more compact than the Ring 4.
  • Durability: very scratch-resistant in testing, but metal transfer (from dumbbells, for example) and drops are the weak spots. Oura’s warranty does not cover scratches and dents.

What the Oura Ring 4 Ceramic is

Oura announced the Ring 4 Ceramic on 1 October 2025, together with a charging case. It went on sale in Germany the same day. Technically it is an Oura Ring 4: according to The Verge, “the width, the inner side of the ring, as well as the sensors are identical to the Oura Ring 4”.

The difference is the material. The outside is zirconia ceramic, the inside with the sensors is titanium. Oura gives the ceramic a Mohs hardness of 8.5 out of 10; that is a manufacturer figure. According to The Verge the colour is not a coating but part of the material itself, so it cannot fade or flake off.

The box contains the ring, a size-specific charger, a USB-C cable and a ceramic polishing pad.

Two things stand out:

  • The Ceramic is the thickest and heaviest current Oura. Oura says it is slightly thicker because of the material properties, to give it the required durability and strength. Pocket-lint calls it “bulky”, bulkier than the titanium Ring 4 and even the Ring 3. What the Oura Ring Gen 3 is still worth in 2026 is covered in a separate article.
  • The Ring 5 is a different size class. Oura says it is 40% more compact than the Ring 4, and it has its own size chart. Moving from a Ring 4 means a new sizing kit. All differences in detail: Oura Ring 5: price, differences from Ring 4, membership.

How much is the Oura Ring 4 Ceramic in Germany?

As of 15 Oct 2026:

  • Oura store: €300.30 instead of €429 in Midnight and Cloud. Oura gives no end date for the discount.
  • Launch price: €549 in October 2025, according to Computer Bild. By December 2025 some retailers had it at €499.
  • Price comparison: Geizhals lists the ring from €229.99. The lowest price applies to individual colour and size combinations, not to every variant.
  • Membership: €5.99 a month or €69.99 a year (EU price according to Oura, tax included).
  • Charging case (optional): €109 according to Computer Bild. Oura says it holds up to five full ring charges.

What the membership adds over time: over three years the monthly plan adds 36 × €5.99 = €215.64, so the Ceramic at the current Oura price ends up at about €516. Which colours and sizes are available?

It launched in four colours: Cloud, Tide, Petal and Midnight. On 15 Oct 2026 Oura’s German store only sells Midnight and Cloud, and Oura’s support page on ring finishes also lists only these two for the Ceramic. Tide and Petal still appear at individual retailers on price comparison sites.

The Ceramic comes in sizes 4 to 15, like the titanium Ring 4. Oura sends a free sizing kit before you buy.

How tough is ceramic on your finger?

The short answer from the tests we read: more scratch-resistant than titanium, with its own quirks.

Scratches: Computer Bild tested the ring in the lab with scratch pens: up to hardness 7 out of 9, the pens could not harm the ring. The magazine compares that to the display glass of top smartwatches.

Metal transfer: Because the ceramic is harder than many metals, it rubs them off. Oura’s care guide says: “Due to zirconia ceramic’s hardness, it can scuff—which means it can take on the color of softer metals, like a dumbbell or cookware.” Oura says these grey marks are not damage and come off with the polishing pad. According to Computer Bild, Oura recommends taking the ring off before contact with metal, such as during weight training. If you lift with a barbell a lot, that is a practical consideration.

Drops and knocks: Oura’s own care guide says: “Try not to drop or hit your Oura Ring against hard surfaces.” We did not find reports of cracked or chipped Ceramic rings in the tests we read. That is no guarantee it cannot happen.

Warranty: Oura gives a one-year manufacturer warranty and, according to its support pages, applies longer statutory periods where local law requires them. Normal signs of wear such as scratches or dents are explicitly excluded. Oura does not say explicitly whether drop damage to the ceramic counts as wear or as a defect.

Water, sauna, ice bath: all fine according to Oura. Water-resistant to 100 m, operating temperature −10 °C to 52 °C. Oura advises against diving with it.

What you get without a membership

As with every Oura Ring: not much. Oura’s Ceramic store page says the ring’s functionality is limited without a membership. Computer Bild specifies that without a subscription you only get basics such as battery level and the daily sleep, readiness and activity scores. What exactly remains, and which rings need no subscription at all, is covered in our comparison of Oura alternatives without a subscription.

Who the Ceramic is for

  • Yes, if colour and looks matter to you, you wanted a Ring 4 anyway, and the current Oura price (€300.30) or a lower retailer price works for you. In terms of measurement you get exactly a Ring 4.
  • Probably not, if you want the smallest possible ring. The Ring 5 is the obvious choice then, with 6 to 9 days of battery according to Oura, but titanium only. For a comparison with the subscription-free Ultrahuman Ring Pro see Ultrahuman Ring Pro vs. Oura Ring 5.
  • Probably not, if you handle barbells or metal a lot and don’t want to keep taking the ring off.
  • No, if you don’t want a subscription. Then any Oura is the wrong choice.

Verdict

The Oura Ring 4 Ceramic is a Ring 4 in a ceramic shell: same sensors, same battery, same app, but more colourful, more scratch-resistant and noticeably thicker. At Oura’s current price of €300.30 instead of €429 it sits well below its €549 launch price. The subscription always comes on top. If ceramic doesn’t matter to you, Oura sells the titanium Ring 4 from €265.30 or the smaller Ring 5 from €429.
